Quick Eats: Lowcountry, Chicago

I get cravings, and when I do, it is really bad. I don’t just want it, I want a lot of it. So here I am in the morning of this day telling Matt that I want seafood. He suggests restaurants that HAVE seafood, and I keep telling him that I need SEAFOOD, places that actually specialize in down-to-earth seafood meals, none of that fancy schmancy things, or like a seafood plate in a pizza place. None of that.

Me and the husband, and the food

I finally decided on eating at Lowcountry. I am not sure what it is, but after getting a recommendation, and reading reviews about it, it felt like this is what I wanted.

We get there and I get excited. This place has a washing area in the middle of the resto, butcher paper (or craft paper) lining the tables, and buckets for all the peels of the fresh seafood. Matt and I were binging so we ordered some mussels, shrimp, clams, with potatoes. A pound each. All the sauces were the same, the everything on it, except that some we made spicier than the rest.

Baggies

They serve the things in little plastic baggies they cut in front of you, and you  just dig in. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. The only thing missing for me was some rice 😀 But that place was really good. I was scooping the sauce with every mouthful of seafood.

In the middle of it all, I felt like I was getting sleepy full, that good, and I would totally come back to this place and maybe try the other stuff they have on the menu like crawfish, lobster, crabs, etc. 🙂
