Quick Eats: Log Cabin, Galena, Illinois

I am very happy to have not followed Yelp’s rating and low recommendation for this restaurant because the food here was amazing! It wasn’t on Yelp’s top 5 restaruants but I promised Matt a fancy dinner, since after all, he took care of everything else. I wanted to treat him, and maybe celebrate our first married month together a week early.

Soup and relish tray

So this was the only steak place in the whole of Galena and even with barely a 4 star rating, we decided to go for it. There was quite a wait, but was easily solved with a drink before the meal. You could also make reservations beforehand to get rid of the waiting.

We decided to share our food because we both want steak but I am sure I will not be able to finish all of it, as usual. So we ordered a ribeye steak, some scallops, and soups for the two of us. The mains also came with sides, and we decided to go with some Greek style fries (flat slices sprinkled with herbs and drizzled with lemon). There was bread, biscuits and crackers,  and a relish tray provided so that helped us along while we waited for our mains.

Finally, the steak and scallops arrived. The steak was tender, flavorful, and sooooo yummy. The scallops too were so tender, mild and sweet, though I did add some more salt and lemon to it. You know its so good when you are full and still you keep eating because it was just damn so good. That’s how it felt like.

We left the restaurant content and happy with our food and our bellies. I was sorely tempted to have it again the next day for lunch, but that was too much. 🙂 But that steak I will remember for quite a while.
