I am always curious to what local vendors sell on the streets when I travel. And this one looked like the native suman, except that it was not. It was small pieces of sweet macapuno (coconut sport) cooked in honey with peanuts, and placed on this smallish serving wooden/bark pieces. They are then stacked in a little box container made out of what looks like banana tree trunks, then wrapped and sold.
More than anything, it was cute, and sweet. Nothing mind blowing. But it is definitely not a bad find. Charisse and I bought some home for the household to taste and try. Let’s see if they like it. It is reminiscent of a local dessert treat called bukayo, which is coconut cooked in sugar.
