PB&J

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE MATT!  Who encouraged me to try PB&Js. 🙂

Peanut butter and jelly. The so-called classic American snack. Or American kids’ favorite food. Of course I didn’t grew up eating that. I do eat peanut butter, jam more than jelly, maybe more cheese and butter. But not PB&J. Recently, part of the menu in my 1200 calorie diet was a PB&J. But it was a panini pressed, cooled and reheated sandwich, so it wasn’t an optimal measure of great good taste.

On my last cheat day, I was in a bit of a rush and wanted to just have some bread. I was debating between doing the peanut butter and banana, or peanut butter and jelly to have on the go. The jelly one. AND OH MY GOODNESS. I LOVE IT.

It tastes waaaay better than it looks.

The soft bread, with the gooey sweet, salty generous middle. It was so good that I ended up having it again the next day for breakfast (2 days of cheats) but doing what Matt suggested of having both sides slathered on with peanut butter, with the jelly in the middle. That was rich though, but hey, it was really good.

So yeah, now I understood the fascination for the sandwich. If my mom only knew I was doing this, I am sure she will be saying I am becoming more American by the day. And yes, she has already said it when I end up skipping rice and grabbing for bread and butter for breakfast. 🙂
