I don’t like mongo sprouts, or bean sprouts as it is generally called. They have this off flavor for me that I really dislike. But I do like alfalfa sprouts and their grassy somewhat bitter taste. And you know what I discovered? I also like lentil sprout. But I had to make it all by myself. I had lentils and I was thinking of other ways to use it because I really didn’t like it in the curry. Only in the soup. So sprouts, why not try?
I soaked the lentils in water overnight, drained them, and kept “watering” for the next 3 or 4 days. Others recommended about 2 to 3 days, but well, I like breaking the rules 😛 So I put this in a little plastic container after the first straining, then put a tissue on top (to keep it both clean and moist) and sprinkled the water on top of it, everyday for the three days. You can actually eat this raw, it does taste a lot like alfalfa sprouts which I do like. But now I have a new thing going 🙂
