I needed to break up my endless quick eats post on my trip. I can’t write anymore reviews! So here I am. I decided to try this after trying Matt’s mom’s version of this. With the help of Matt and finding what I thought was the right recipe which I found here, I decided to make it.
It took a while to find the butterscotch chips. And no peanut butter chips. So I stuck with two kinds of which I bought. Then just randomly what we have in the house. I switched it up from coconut to muesli and oats, because I didn’t have any of the coconut for baking.
The verdict, Matt’s Mom’s version is still better. Mine came up too sweet (maybe because of the sweetened muesli). Another try will be good.
My version of Magic Cookie Bar Recipe
1 1/2 cup graham
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 can Milkmaid (no cheap brands of condensed milk please)
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 cup chocolate chips
2 1/3 cups of muesli/oats/nuts
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. And prepare to use a 9 by 13 pan. Line with parchment.
Mix the graham and butter, and set as crust in the pan. Top with the whole can of condensed milk, ensuring all of the graham is covered. Mix the rest of the ingredients and spread evenly on top of the condensed milk. Press to set. Bake for 20 minutes. Cool and then slice into bars.
