One of those new-fangled places. The place is located across the Powerplant Mall, and is actually not noticeable from the street. it is in the same building as Dean and Deluca (which we also ended up going to right after).
Aruga Cafe is like a living room transformed into a restaurant. We got the private dining area by chance (has a required minimum order for it). My friends initially ordered the nachos, which we failed to try simply because we were late. Then there were also two salads, oriental and caesar, lengua, the famous salpicao and mushroom pasta.
Everything was actually good. Like I tried everything and found all of it really worth ordering. There were so many mushrooms in the pasta. Their specialties of lengua and salpicao is worth the single serve order, And even their salads, I had two servings each of. So it was really really good. The ambiance is really good too. Homey.
The thing was, it’s really just generally more expensive than the rest of the places we could have opted to eat out. Prices on the menu was actually fine, but the servings are usually good for one for the mains. So the prices are like double. But is it worth it? Sure, maybe for special occasions or when you want to get away from the noise of the mall (which isn’t even generally noisy). But it’s nice 🙂
