Before our bridgeclimb, we had time to kill and have lunch nearby, which is The Rocks. We stopped at a german pub place (we seem to like this kind of food), and as advertised, ordered their pork knuckle. No idea how it was cooked. But it was displayed proudly by their name, so that’s what we ordered. We also ordered a deli appetizer of some sort which had bread, some spreads, and the meats. And kars ordered beer. 🙂
it seemed from the waitstaff that what we ordered were all only good for one person, but looking at us, she recommended we can easily upgrade and add orders if needed. So we ordered all just for one.
The dishes were really simple and good. The liver pate was heaven. That may be the best pate I have ever tasted. I need to make pate that like that, maybe google a german recipe, like they had (if that was authentic german liver pate). The meats were good too. And then the main dish arrived. It looked like the Filipino crispy pata (or fried pork leg) and one serving was huge. It was served with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes with some of the jus. And damn that knuckle. It was tender, and crunchy, and flavorful, and perfectly flavored. And the serving size of the mashed, veggies and sauce were just perfect. Honestly, it didn’t look too perfect on the plate, but on the palette it was brilliant. 🙂
