So after my last recipe of leeks and pork, I was trying to figure out how to include it more in my meals. I remember reading recipes that utilized leeks as the main dish itself, and realized I can do that! I love leeks, like most aromats such as garlic, onion and shallots. So I decided to cut up a huge leeks, slice it into half rings, boil it in a bit of broth to soften, add a knob of butter and a sprinkle of salt, and ta-dah! Done.
It is as simple as it can get. And is a great addition to my easy vegetable recipes to have at home. I know a lot of people just consider leeks as garnish, an additional flavoring of some sort, but not for me. I’d be fine to eat this a couple of times a week if I have to. 🙂
Sauteed Leeks Recipe
1 to 1/2 leeks, sliced lengthwise then cut into half rings (all parts) or about 1 cup
1/2 cup broth
1 tablespoon butter
salt to taste
In a pan, put in the broth. Add the leeks and let this cook down in the broth over medium fire. Be careful to make sure the broth doesn’t dry out. Add more if necessary. Add the butter once the leeks are copletely wilted and cooked. Season with salt to taste.
