I am bit too late to say Merry Christmas, when the date was 3 days ago. Am stuck between the limbo of Chcristmas and New Year hence my title post 😛
Christmas was eventful with relatives all coming here bringing their own share of the food and the mish mash was a bit crazy actually. There were so much food that I barely ate. Yep. That happens. Mom prepared some spaghetti, lechon kawali (deep fried pork loin), kare-kare (beef stew in peanut sauce), shrimp, some leche flan, macaroni salad, fried fish with buro (fermented fish and rice) and some of my butterscotch. More assortment came from the other people such as a fresh fruit salad, a vegetable salad, some roasted chicken, chocolates (yes, they do count), to name a few.
But with the hullabaloo of getting everything fixed and ready, I wasn’t able to take pictures! :s But I did take note of our noche buena. For those unfamiliar, this is the meal eaten during the eve, or for us, midnight when Christmas begins. I really cannot imagine gorging on food at midnight but it is tradition.
Our spread was quite thin this year, perhaps with the two day task of prepping for the main meal on Christmas day. But we had baked spaghetti, store bought roasted chicken, ham and bread. And that was it. It was a happy but quiet meal. I wanted to sleep soon after. What better way to sleep than when you are sleepy, but when you are sleepy and full 🙂
PS. Hey, did anyone notice that the Purefoods Fiesta Ham is waaaaay different this year? The feel and texture of the meat, including the flavor, was very different from what I have become accustomed to for the past few years. :s Time to change hams.
