Quick Eats: Hatch 22, Rockwell, Makati City

I have heard of this restaurant before because it is partially owned by a local celebrity. Though I do love breakfast, and would want it the whole day for meals, I don’t think I have found a brunch place that has totally gotten me excited. At the end of the day, it’s eggs and some deli for me, and how often does that go wrong? Rarely.

I asked the server what is recommended. I didn’t want to go for rice since I wasn’t feeling that hungry. Instead, I went for Not Your Ordinary Benedict. It wasn’t really lighter. The serving looked huge actually. Bacon, veggies, two eggs, and bread. My friends ordered the same thing, and two other people ordered the tapa. I actually felt hungry looking at the tapa, more than my food.

Once I started eating the eggs benedict, it was really good. Yummy. Bacon, egg, bread. But then after a while, the soft bread got soggier and didn’t stand up much to the egg. And after a while, I felt like I was eating mush. ūüė¶ which is not the greatest food texture.

Looks good, doesn't it?

I did try my friend’s tapa. What with the crispy egg (too oily), and supposedly sweet beef (not really my preference), and old grilled tomato, it didn’t really sound like the best meal. With the plate costing around P375, I don’t think I would be going here again. It was a bitter disappointment. I would have been happier with some spam, fried rice, and a sunny side up egg at home. Boo.
