It’s very rare that I eat somewhere in BF. Though it has become known for a lot of restaurants, I still don’t frequent it, not really knowing what is good, or what isn’t.
A recommendation from my sister’s friend brought us to Mama Lou’s. It is not located in the usual hub/line of restos, and a bit far, but it became full for lunch on a Saturday, so I am guessing it must be a good guide to pick the restaurant.
Mama Lou’s is a Italian-style restaurant with a foreign owner. Not sure if he is Italian though 🙂 But he did go around our tables asking how we were. 🙂
I initially ordered poutine, while I was waiting for my sister and her family to arrive. I have been interested in that dish since I read about it since people really rave about it. I ordered the bacon topped poutine. Poutine is supposedly a Canadian dish made of fries, topped with gravy and melted cheese (usually curds), and mine was even topped with bacon.
Though the fries are soggy from the gravy, I can understand now how it can become such a great comfort food. Maybe I’d make this at home, a yummier version, if you can imagine.
Ate and her family finally arrived and they ordered salpicao, chicken of some sort, and pizza. The salpicao was so-so, the chicken too. But the pizza was really fabulous! If i wasn’t so full from the fries, I would have eaten more than two slices of the thin pizza. 🙂 But I really did like it. The pizza, with a slice of ham, with an arugula leaf, a slice of mango and with the cheese. Yum. Topped with more alfalfa sprouts! Heaven 🙂
Will go back for pizza and pasta! 🙂
PS. I almost forgot about the cake!!! It’s good too. I’ll go back for it!
