This chain of restaurant has received mixed reviews from the very beginning. From it’s long lines, to utterly disastrous pancakes to “I love IHop!”, you have it. But I remember reviews comparing it to the one in the US, and that is abysmal and highly disappointing. I never got to try this when we went to the US, so I don’t have any basis of comparison. But it took me a while to try it (not my choice actually) simply because I hate going along with food fads that mostly disappoint anyway.

But there we were, on a Wednesday evening, eating breakfast for dinner. We were 6 and we had a lot on the table. Like really. We ordered food worth P2770, which would amount to about $10 per head, which is already on the mid to expensive range for food here. But there were lots of food (mostly carbs) on the table, so no one was left hungry.

The food reminded me of a pancake-based Friday’s. But anything outside of the usual menu just looked sad, like the chicken and fries. But the pancake was good, with the option of 4 sauces Original, Butter Pecan, Strawberry and Blueberry.

I ordered waffles because they are damned my favorite thing right now. Though my request for crunchy pancake was obliged, it turned soft right before my very eyes š¦ Unlike Pancake House’s pancakes, which was crunchy to the last bite.

My take-away here, their eggs were really great! And they weren’t cheap on the extras (I asked for whipped cream). The service was good too, deserving of a great tip. Ā But the thing is, for me, pancakes are pancakes. I can make these at home at such a cheaper price. Or from a box.
