Nutmeg

I used to take a lot of spices for granted. Coriander was the first one that literally took my breath away. I never realized it smelled so good. Then there was cumin seeds, which I bought recently. Then just now, nutmeg 🙂 I used to buy nutmeg in ground form, though I have heard wonders about using whole nutmeg. I finally ran across a whole container of whole nutmeg in one of my grocery trip and I grabbed it. It was a lot. About 15 or so pieces for only P137 or about $3! I don’t know where else to find that kind of bargain.

Though I have been using nutmeg in some of my recipes, I haven’t really used “used” it. But when I used it for the first time, OMG. I knew I have been missing out. The scent is really heavenly. I have no idea it smelled so damn good. I have used this but will be using this again in some recipes. The things I am discovering only know, I am amazed 🙂

On a side note, comments in the household mentioned that the nutmeg looks so much alike the nga-nga or betel nut that were once chewed on by the oldies. Is it the same thing?
